Should I repair or replace my cylinder?
That depends on the fault, tank condition, age, parts availability and your household’s needs. A component fault may be repairable; a leaking or deteriorating tank may need replacement. We assess the system before recommending a course of action.
Can I change from electric to gas or heat pump hot water?
We can assess that with you. A conversion may need supply changes, new pipework, a different location and electrical or gas work. Space, ventilation, drainage, noise and approvals matter. We explain those requirements in the quote rather than assuming every option fits every home.
What size system does my household need?
Tell us how many people live there, the number of bathrooms and when showers or other hot-water uses overlap. Storage capacity, recovery rate and simultaneous flow demand all matter; we assess these against the available supply and space.
What if I smell gas near the water heater?
Leave the immediate area and keep others away. Do not operate switches, electronic devices or your mobile in the affected area, and do not attempt a repair. From safety, contact your gas emergency provider; Powerco’s gas emergency number is 0800 111 848. Call 111 from safety if there is immediate danger. A routine service enquiry is not a substitute for reporting a suspected gas leak.
Can you restore hot water tonight?
Call us first. We provide 24/7 emergency plumbing and electrical services, but attendance and the required trade need confirmation. The fault, safe access and parts availability determine what can be done. We cannot promise an immediate repair or replacement.
Do you look after rental properties in Lower Hutt?
Yes. Give us the property address, tenant contact arrangements, fault details and spending authority. We keep the property manager informed and confirm access and approvals before the visit. Your quote identifies the business you are contracting with.
Is a heat pump water heater also a room heater?
No. Heat pump hot water heats stored water for taps and showers. Single-room or ducted heat pumps heat the living space. For room heating, see our heating services.
